He actually was being a good boy!! Protecting his "space" and his mommy!! My guys do that with animals, everymorning I can tell if anything was in the yard, as they go straight for the trees and follow the same path that the animal did. Cutie Capote!!!

Aww... how sweet! Nothing wrong with that. Capote is doing what is natural. lol O.k...... the barking part isn't much fun - I know that only too well! The more you make of it, the more he'll feel rewarded though. Good or bad attention is still attention unfortunately.

The thing that annoys me the most about lil dogs is when the bark all spaz like at strangers.. I need to teach him to stop..unfortunately ignoring him doesn't really work..

Oh yea, the no bark comand can be a hard one.. I actually use a hand signal or "no bark" comand that still only works half the time. I was told when they start barking use a comand then remove them from the situation that is causing the barking. If they are barking at something they will most likley want to go back to bark some more so you may be taking a few trips in and out till Capote gets the idea that every time he barks mom brings me back in the house.

That’s right, I remember reading you had your own stair master in another thread. They are also outside stairs correct? Maybe just pick him up and bring him around a corner or at least out of site from what he is barking at then wait 2 min. and bring him back. Anything's worth a try.

Sam went through a stage when he was about 3-4 months old that he barked at everyone we met on our walks. What I did, is I keeped my pockets full of his favorite treats, And used them to try to distract him. It didn't all ways work at first but he did catch on that not barking gets treats. Now at 16 months, we can walk by anyone without barking unless we pass a dog that barks first. I still have my pockets full of treats just in case.

oo..he's such an alpha! Today he was eating something he shouldn't and I went to take it away from him (which of course he won't let it go) and I had to push my finger in his mouth..and boy did he growl! I growled back.. lol
