Breeder in CT

Hi there,

I am looking for guidance selecting a breeder in the conneticut area. I have looked through this thread and haven't found any feedback with two breeders I found. I have looked on the akc website and found two named Val zalman and Marijke Tansey. Was wondering if anyone has purchase a pup from either of these ladies.

Thank you in advance for your help!

What are their kennel names?

Thanks for your quick response.
They didn't provide the name of the kennel, don't believe they have a name associated with their pups. They are however on the akc website.

I don't know anything about the breeder, but I did Google Val Zalman and came up with this. If you go to this link and click on the "breeders profile", she does seem to do a lot of things you would expect from a reputable breeder, including having the parents tested for certain things.
Good luck in your search for a happy little Havanese!

I recommend you read this post:

Sticky: Things to Look for in a Reputable Breeder

I would also not limit yourself to CT; many of us traveled far to find the right breeder, which is the most important decision you'll make on this journey.

Good luck!

I totally agree. I could not find sufficient information on these ladies to make a judgment.

WE are getting a puppy from these breeders next month, coming from Hungary. I have found Marijke very helpful - gets back to me by email re. the many questions I have sent, and made suggestions. Has sent photos several times since pups were born in Jan. It is clear she loves her dogs. Breeds her own, as well as bring occasional litters from Hungary - she has used Hungarian dogs for her own breeding to diversify the genetic stock.

I am probably going to get a puppy from these breeders - a 4 month old female coming from Hungary. Sounds similar to your arrangement. Did this work out well for you?

Yes the breeder has a relationship with the breeder in Hungary and it helps broaden the gene pool. This puppy’s grandparents are the CT breeder’s dogs.
