Cool Brand new potential havanese owner

I'm a retired professional in the process of acquiring a puppy that was born on 12/30/2019
I am looking forward to this, but have some questions concerning colors. I realize that the coloring will change throughout it's life. So the one I have chosen is a red or chocolate color predominantly with white head and white belly the rest being that red or chocolate color. How do I know if the color is red or chocolate brown. Anyway, looking forward to being a part of this forum family for many years to come..

Is the dog a chocolate Hav? I have a chocolate parti who has lightened a lot. His brown areas are much lighter. But the REAL way to know, that will never change, is that chocolates have liver-colored noses and lips vs black. And they usually have lighter brown eyes. Here's a pic of Oliver at about 11 weeks and him now at one year.

Yes, Melissa is correct. Red Havanese have black pigment. (nose and around their eyes) Here is a red Havanese puppy. You can see that her nose is deep, pure black as opposed to Oliver's photo, which shows a proper chocolate "brown pigment" nose. Your breeder should be able to tell you for sure which color your puppy is. They are pretty easy to tell apart.

Welcome to the group! We expect lots of photos of your cutie!

Thanks Melissa for responding. I did get a reply from the breeder, and she said that this puppy is a Irish Pied Red Sable. I'm hoping it will lighten up in the future.
Thanks again! Also thank you to Krandall for posting the pic, and the info.
Like I said earlier, the pups were born on 12/30/2019. So I won't be able to post any pics until I pick her up sometime in March of 2020.

No, most Havanese will change color from what they were as a puppy. Or, at least, many do. The breeder should be able to tell you about that. A sable will lighten, and if you ever cut them shorter the color that is present now will be cut off and they'll likely be quite light colored. The dark ends won't return dark.
