Smile Favorite hair style currently?

Hey everyone how are we all today? I would like to introduce myself, I am a proud Havanese owner, and I also blog about my Havanese and experiences at gatewayhavanese.com

I just got started with the blog and would love any feedback.

I wanted to introduce my little Nessie as well. She is a funky little spark of a Havanese and we really love her.

I am also looking for a bit of a poll...what are you currently doing with your Havanese's hair? How are you cutting it currently?

We are getting her cut pretty short every 6 weeksish...and we definitely cut her ears. But I really love her scraggly Han solo look too and the grinch feet.

Anyway would love to know what your doing.

Welcome to the group. Nessie is a cutie. I like my Mia best when her hair is 2 to 3 inches long. I find that this is manageable and she still looks a bit fluffy. If we are having a super bad tick season I sometimes go shorter to be able to find ticks better since I am more worried about health than beauty! I groom Mia myself and typically use scissors only for cutting - no clippers. I brush and comb her almost every day so she rarely gets a mat. She is half Papillon so her coat may be a bit different but it looks like a Havanese coat to me. I also keep her face short because she likes to dig and eats raw food. So easier to keep clean.

Welcome Jaime and Nessie, always good to see new human males on HF!

We leave Ricky in a full coat except for a periodic trim of his face, bangs, and paws (every three or four months). We have him professionally brushed out twice a week and bathed once a week.

Ricky has more of the "Chewbaca" look that female dogs (particularly Yorkies and Corgis) find very alluring.

We are currently in a weird cut. He was blowing his coat and ended up a matted mess. Mr groomer did what she could. Lol.

My ideal is definitely not a full coat, but somewhere halfway between puppy cut and full coat. Well see if we can actually achieve it!!

Do you do the paw pads more often than every 3 to 4 months? I have to do Mias every few weeks.

I have three, and they are all different. Kodi is almost 11, and was in full coat until earlier this year. I adored his gorgeous coat but health problems lead to me deciding it was time for us both to have less grooming to deal with. Now that Im used to it, I think hes cute this way too.

Pixel has been in a puppy cut since she started matting badly while blowing coat. My intention was to grow her out again, but she is very small, and she is so cute short that the shorter hair suits her... so weve just kept it that way:

And Panda is still showing, so still in full coat. But she also has a VERY easy coat to deal with!

It has been 9 weeks since Ricky was trimmed by Luz in Mexico. As a result of your question, I just took a close look at his paws. Yes, they are starting to get a little shaggy. Maybe I'll do a little amateur trimming myself, as soon as I work up the courage!

Oh My Dog! Is that you Kodi? I don't care what you look like Kodi. There is only one Kodi and that is the way it will always be!
