Hi from Hazel (me) and Jasmine (3 yr old Havanese)

My first post to this forum. My little girl has begun to aggressively nibble on everything! Wondering if other Havanese owners have same issue?

Nope! Sorry! None of mine have done that. Kodi is a TERRIBLE paper thief/chewer, but sticks to paper. The girls aren't chewers of much of anything.

Welcome! Ricky is 6 y.o. and he has been an aggressive chewer for 6 years! BUT, I have trained him to stop chewing on something undesirable when I tell him to "knock it off!" and he listens to me (but he will give me a defiant side eye to show his independence and then trudges off). You didn't say how old your little girl is, it could be just a temporary teething issue.

My second post... My 3-yr-old Havanese has begun to aggressively nibble on fabrics (bedding, my clothes while in my lap, fabric furniture, etc.). She is not actually chewing or biting - it is more like mouth movements (sort of like sucking, but no moisture on fabrics). She also has increased licking on my arms, hands, etc. Appears to be a calming and/or affectionate activity. This has been constant/increasing issue for past few weeks. Meanwhile, today I discovered that she has a cherry eye issue! Hoping to see vet tomorrow - but may fall into nonessential procedure???

If it is a new behavior and she is 3, is it possibly a dental issue? Just guessing, but hopefully you’ll be able to figure it out when you take her into the vet!

Welcome - by the way, I'm not 100% sure, but I've thought the 2nd post needed to be a new thread within the Introduce Yourself section. If anyone knows for sure, please correct me. However, if you find you still don't have access to all the forum, try making another thread.

The other possibility, if it's only been the last 3 weeks or so, is could it be in response to heightened anxiety/emotions in the household? I know that my dogs are on "higher alert" than usual, and Panda, who is always super affectionate, but not usually clingy, wants to be sitting ON my foot ALL the time. Everything is different, with everyone home more.

We are trying to keep things as normal as possible, but they are not. Not for us, not for the dogs and not for my 20 month old granddaughter, who you would think this would wash right over. But she has been waking up at night with nightmares... something she has never done before. Dogs are VERY quick to pick up on changes in OUR emotional states.

Welcome Hazel and Jasmine! 😊 My two have never been chewers. They do like chewing on beef tendons or bully sticks. The dentist recommended not offering them bully sticks. She said it may have caused Truffles two fractured teeth.
