Hi All

I am a dog lover and after quite a bit of research I decided that the Havanese breed would be an ideal fit for me. It's been difficult finding a pup and have been on several waiting lists. The good news is I am finally bringing my baby home at the end of the month. His name is Desi and he is a Chocolate/Brindle/Parti. I am so excited and look forward to connecting with you all on this forum.

Welcome! He's adorable! It's unusual to see such a dark brindle. It will be fun to watch his color mature!!!

The breeder did say that his color was unusual and asked me to share photos of him as he matures. I feel like an expectant mother and am so excited to bring him home.

Hi faithb
Poppy is 8 (nearly 9). I bet you are so excited. I can still remember bringing ppppy home. She cried all the way home in the car. Think it was an hour and a half worth! But I loved her then and have not regretted a minute of having her. You are going to have such a great time with Desi. When does he come home?

Congratulations! That's so exciting! We have had our little guy Winston since beginning of April and love him so much! He is such a sweet wonderful puppy. Seriously considering getting him a playmate though - he has separation anxiety!

Have fun with Desi! Lori

I am so glad I joined this forum! I have received great advice and suggestions and everyone is very friendly. I am so excited and a little nervous too as itís been over twenty years since I had a new puppy. Our last dog Annie was a rescue and came to us when she was 2-3 years old. We bring him home tomorrow! The breeder is 2 1/2 hours away so it will be an interesting ride home. I will bring pee pads so we wonít have to pull over and prolong the trip. My husband will play chauffeur while Desi and I are in the back seat. I purchased an airline travel bag and will use this to contain him if necessary.

I am afraid of possible separation anxiety and plan to leave him alone for short periods of time during the day. Hopefully this will teach him that I always come back. My hubby was a hard sell for one dog (he was heartbroken when Annie passed and did not want another) and would absolutely put his foot down if I tried for two.

Poppy and Winston are so cute. I love their black and cream colorIng. Thanks for reaching out and welcoming us to the forum!

It sounds like you have really looked into seperation anxiety which will really help. Definitely go out to get him used to it. Poppy suffered mostly from this at night. She was ok when she was in the crate but once she was old enough to not be in it she cried every night. In the end my husband agreed to her coming upstairs. Needless to say she's slept on our bed since!
If you can post some photos of your little boy when he's home with you. I'd love to see them.
