Infection causes delay in Jake's Neuter

We took Jake for pre-surgery blood work last night and scheduled the "snip, snip" for next Friday. The vet just called to say Jake's white blood cell count is higher than normal...over 18000...and wants to start him on an antibiotic. I asked the vet what could be causing the infection and of course she doesn't know. We are going to take in a urine sample tomorrow to see if maybe it's a urinary tract infection. Surgery is postponed until his white blood cell count is normal. Does anyone have any thoughts on why his WBC count could be high?

I'm thinking some of the posts get bumped according to the time of day, whether you are on the east coast or west, and how many other postings there are. There isn't a page 2, is there?

I love the picture of Jake and Jazz sharing a stick and running! Hope Jake is okay now.

Off topic, but, Sheri, if you ever want to see ALL the new posts since your last visit, just click on the New Posts link. It's on the left hand side of the index page underneath the picture of your avatar. It will show all the unread posts you have. For example, when I went on my honeymoon I looked under there and had 9 pages worth of unread posts, LOL. Anyway, that's how you can keep track of any threads that have made their way off of the index page.
