I am new to the forum. We have a 4.5 month old puppy named Bella. She is just a doll I just wanted to know how old she should be before getting her professionally groomed. I brush her, bathe her, etc at home but I didn't want to take her to a groomer too soon and traumatize her. Thanks
I think the sooner you take her, the better she will behave in the future. I groomed and gave my guys cuts within the first few days of me getting them. I wanted them to get used to the clippers, comb, nail clippers, toothbrush, ear cleaner, and eye wash. Now when I groom them they fall asleep!
Bella is adorable! Welcome to the forum. Grooming can be a valuable means of socializing your puppy, so any time is good. Do your homework on your groomer, though. Are they familiar with Havanese? When I took my sable Hav to the first groomer, he trimmed his black ears. When the color is cut off a sable, it doesn't grow back.
my groomer calls it the face fanny and feet. these are the areas that need to be cleaned, it will get her use to the groomer. when she's sitting on your lap, rub her paws and ears. it will get her use to the feeling of being handled.
Thank you all so much!! I love the forum and I have already learned so much. I really appreciate all your responses. I am a new Havanese lover and I am so glad I found such a wonderful puppy and new family member
