We put our tree up tonight and whole Roxie was perfectly connect to lay under it, Brutus takes off an ornament as we put it on. He considers it his giant toy. And the Christmas Carols in the bacground are for his benefit. Fortuneately the tree is in an area that is not their general roaming area and blocked by a gate. I picture Christmas morning with us all trying to control Brutus rather than opening presents and enjoying each other. I have read a few isolated posts, but how are your dogs around the tree?

Oh Brutus - what a character! I don't know what I would do if he were my dog, he's too cute to get too mad at.

We have our tree up, no ornaments as yet. (We just haven't had time to "Deck the Halls" :() Callie wasn't bothered by the tree at all. It was as if it were totally normal to put a tree in the middle of the living room. :suspicious:
So far she has enjoyed hanging out under it, not sure why, and she has nibbled at the branches a little. Of course when I saw her I gave her the ol' "Uh Uh" sp? and she stopped. We were ready to put up the Xpen around it, but we'll see how she does, we might not need to. I'm more afraid of her tearing open the presents prematurely. You know how they LOVE paper shredding! I can just hear my boys now, "Whaaaat???? I didn't rip the paper off my gift, Callie did it!"

We are lucky in the fact that our traditions make it so most of the presents are not put under the tree until after the "kids" are asleep on Christmas Eve. However when the kids come home they will place their gifts to us and each other under the tree. Once again thank goodness the dogs are gated out.

Kubrick so far has managed to push aside the towel underneath the tree covering the base and drink the water three times. He hasn't done it in the last couple of days so I'm hoping it has stopped. He leaves the ornaments alone, though only two or three are really within his reach and all he does is sniff them. He also has decided that sniffing around underneath the tree is the COOLEST thing in the world so he had sap ALL OVER his head. Oh the mats! :frusty:

But really, he's getting better... every day he leaves it alone more and more, so hopefully by the time Christmas rolls around he won't even care about it.

We used to get a 6' tree and place it in front of our living room picture window, but no more. Our big dogs almost toppled it one year while bouncing around the house.

Now we get a 3' tree and put it on a table so it's out of harm's way. This will be Pepper's first Christmas with us. We'll get our tree next week and I'll see then how Pepper does.

Our big dogs aren't especially interested in the tree after the first day. But they are somewhat klutzy and over active :pound:

Jester was a puppy last year and I just didn't remember him getting under the tree like Heidi does.....until I looked at pictures from last year and saw that we had an x-pen across the diningroom so he didn't even have access to the tree! :brick:
So far so good with Heidi. When I first put it up, she had to poop under there, chew on the corners of the presents, and the branches that hang down, and the light strands a few times...until Hubby got down to her level and let out a couple big huge daddy growls at her. Now she hardly goes near it!
Although I am waiting for the whole thing to come tumbling down with the next runlikehell~! :pound:

I have found 2 mysterious 'puddles' under my tree, of course Gucci denies having anything to do with the yellow puddles. Thankfully, it was on a piece of vinyl under the tree. I just put the skirt around it yesterday, we'll see if she pees on that. lol

She doesn't mess with the ornaments or tree...but she thinks its okay to pee around it. lol Well, maybe she won't do that anymore?!? I hope!

These are all very funny stories! Havee so far has been leaving the tree alone for the most part. For the most part I say...every now and again I check out the family room where the tree is because it's just too quiet in there. I see him standing next to the tree and just staring at me as if to say "I didn't do it--it wasn't me", as one of the branches moves ever so slightly:pound:
He'll sniff the few ornaments that are on the bottom and loves the pine needles that fall on the floor. So I've been sweeping alot lately under the tree.

The tree's in the living room (where she isn't allowed to roam). She watched us put it all up while she was in her ex pen standing on her crate, of course.
When I took Bonnie to my friend's house who has her tree in the kitchen, all she did was bark and growl at it. ???

Last year, Jasper was a perfect gentleman with the tree-- He just sniffed it and sometimex sat looking up at the lights but didn't do anything to it. I don't think Cash will be so kind. we may not do it this year. As we are going away this weekend and then it's just a week til Christmas. But If we do I will let you know.

Lilly couldn't care less about our tree. She hasn't even been CAUGHT sniffing it. No "accidents" either. Thankfully. I haven't put any presnents under it yet THAT will be the real test I guess. BUT I do have a dancing snaowman couple that she IS rather interested in especially when we put her a treat in their arms. She will make them stop so she can get the treat we LOVE to watch her. I will try to get a video.
