Our Havanese is 2 1/2 yrs old 12 pounds. she's great with everything except eating. I've been handing her 2 times a day , each time 1/4 cup. Want to get some tips how to transition her to eating from the bowl. Is it too late to correct this habit?

Hi, we are in a rough patch financially. I'm looking for resources that may help out with dog food so we can feed our pups. Any recommendations are welcomed.

Our Josie is now 14 months old. We've been feeding her three times a day, but are wondering when the right time is to switch over to just a morning and an evening meal. What do folks here do?

Hi, We are going to bring our new puppy home mid-July, at 10 weeks. I have been watching tons of YouTubes and reading tons of blogs to prepare. What I really need is some experienced Havanese owners to help we know what I really need for him. Is Blue Buffalo Freedom Puppy a good choice? Should...

Hi all! I have been doing a lot of research into dog foods lately given the rise of fresh food/raw brands. With my new puppy on the way, I am considering a hybrid diet - my older girls currently eat half Canidae senior formula and half Jinx and are doing well. I am curious if anyone has seen...

Hey, I was going to post this in the puppy area but apparently I have to do 2 posts here first. So I'll ask my question here. So here's the thing. Halo is now just over 11 weeks and weighs in at ~4 lbs. We've been feeding him about 1/4 cup of food 3 times a day but in over a week he has only...

Hi! I am new to this forum. I have a 1 yr 3mnth old Havanese, 19.6 lbs. Yup I wrote that correctly! Irie is on the bigger side for Havanese dogs but in excellent shape and very strong :) I have been feeding him Flint River - Chicken Kibble and he loves it! Only problem is Flint River just...

There has been a recent thread on raw diets and my Darwin's shipment came today so I thought I'd share what it looks like and what the storage requirements are, etc. I have no affiliation and this is not an ad; it's offered for informational purposes. When I initially signed up I was concerned...

Well it looks like I took things a bit too literally in my attempt to do everything perfectly for our new pup. I have only been feeding him 1/3 c kibble a day (+ some treats). I think I misunderstood the amounts people said with regards to 1/3 x 3 meals a day etc.... also didn't realize from...

Sorry for bringing this up again, but I need some advice/opinions! Brooklyn got his rabies shots this weekend and the vet freaked me out a little. We choose them because they had great reviews on Yelp and everyone there seems pretty nice so far. They weighted him again and this time (Sept...

Hi all, I am trying our Havanese to change to adult food since few weeks since he is turning almost a year old now. We have been using Royal Canin mini junior and so far I tried using three different reasonably good quality products (James wellbeloved, Precept plus etc; chicken kibble since he...

I know it sounds crazy, but a handler that I'm being trained by to show my havanese told me that puppy food is really not that much better than adult food, and that the bone-growth-promoting ingredients in puppy food can actually cause the bones to grow faster than the soft tissue, causing...

Hi everyone, I was wondering what type of food you use. My pups are on their 4th food in 6 weeks and I think this one is the best. I have even tried the minimal "natural" food. Some made them vomit, loose stools, or they were going constantly. I would appreciate some feedback. Thanks, Trudy

Dexter used to eat 1/2 cup of food twice a day without problems and now for the past several days he has not eaten all his food. I would guess he is eating about 1/3 cup of food at each feeding. Dexter is not a chow hound and will only eat when he wants to and he is not getting lots of...
