Brindle with face mask

Hi all! I am very excited to be here. We have chosen our first puppy ever- a female Havanese. At 5 weeks old she is an indescribable color and I’m wondering if anybody here has had a puppy that looked like ours as a baby, but changed color! Currently, she is brindle with a dark face mask. Her mom is a true chocolate and her dad is a red. I’m a obsessed with figuring out if she will change or not! Here are some photos. If any of you have had a puppy like her, please let me know. Thank you!

Check out the gallery from this website as it is a great way to see how your pups color will most likely change.

Colours of the Rainbow
Sable Development

Particularly Gallery 13!
Funny- the breeder called her brindle, but I think she looks almost sable. I guess only time will tell, because I really don’t feel like she fits neatly into any of the color categories!
Yes! Molly is a red sable and has lightened through the years. She is now 4 1/2 years old.

Red Sable. She'll lighten, but who knows how much.

Hi Tom! You think she is red sable? I’d tend to agree, but breeder said brindle but she didn’t seem sure about it.
Here is a picture of a Red Brindle 8 week old. The colors are mixed all over the body. Black is not just on the tips, as the hair grows out. Legs are often mostly the lighter of the main colors.

Here is a Red Sable out of that same litter. None of the Sables in that litter had a dark mask. This was just a litter that I remembered had both in it.

The color is fascinating. We pick her up in 2 and a half weeks and we can’t wait! The breeder lives 2 1/2 hours away from us, so last Saturday was the first and only time we will see her before we pick her up. I wonder if she will look the same! Her name is Sadie!

She’s beautiful. Congratulations and the best of luck with her.
I love this thread, thanks for your posting
Birdy just had a litter of five this morning, and it looks like there will be one of each of the colors talked about in this thread. We'll have pictures up after their eyes open, so check our website in a couple of weeks, if you are interested in following the color development the first couple of months.

Sorry, the waiting list is plenty long enough, so none available, but of course, none have been assigned homes yet because we won't know who they are (the puppies) for a couple of months. All are already showing signs of being athletes.

The giveaway that Pamela's puppy is a sable is the back picture in her first post in this thread. You can see it's getting lighter underneath already. She's going to be a gorgeous dog, like others in this thread.

Tom, you are a wealth of information! Thank you for clarifying Sadie’s color for me. What is your website? I’d love to follow it!

What color did she end up?
