In so many ways they are just like other puppies. They bark, are mouthy/bitey sometimes, they need house training and socializing. In other ways they may be different especially if your prior Puppy experience was with larger breed dogs. It can take longer to house train IF you try to house train without an indoor option (litter box or potty tray) and they, like other breeds that were bred to be companions, must be taught that they are ok when alone. They are smart puppies and will train you in a heartbeat if you allow it. You have to set the rules and not acknowledge demand barking if your pup tries it out on you. All puppies regardless of breed need training and socialization to become adult dogs that people enjoy having around. Find a great puppy class and do the work. Address issues before they become hard to change habits. Havanese are we wonderful breed. Find a great responsible breeder and work closely with that breeder to find your new puppy.

What Pucks said. Havanese are dogs, and all puppies will have MOST things in common. All BREEDS will have some characteristics that set them apart form other breeds. That is true of havanese too! :)

Havanese are not different from other dogs in general.
