I am new here.
Let me give you some back ground about myself.
I was born into a family that raised and showed English Bulldogs.
Later in life I choose mutts for my next favorite dog.
8 years ago my husband decided he wanted a golden. What a great dog.
He recently passed from lymphnode cancer.
Now after speaking with our vet and discussing different dogs and breeds I told him I want a small dog this time and I think I really want a Havanse.
I am looking for a breeder in Northern NJ or a rescue of the breed locally.
Can anyone help me out.
Also is there any reason why I wouldn't want a Havanese. The only thing my vet had against one is high maintence! LOL! I work out of the house and it's awful lonely here.
I also have 2 house cats. Cats don't quite fill the void.

If you dont want a dog to follow you all over the house, dont get a Havanese. HAHA IM only kidding, sorda. They are the best dogs and I think you would be so happy with one. They will NOT let you be lonely, I think most all of them are extremely loving. Im sure the high maintenance your vet is speaking of is grooming. If you keep them in coat they do reuire a lot of brushing.

What I would suggest is go to www.havanese.org
Go to Breeder Referral. Someone will send you a list of breeders and you can contact some close by. That is the best way, because they are required to do health testing to be on that list.

Its great you work out of the house, I dont think they do as well if they are left alone a lot.

Thanks so long as I don't get tripped we are alright. I have cats that trip me now! Sort of used to it. And great big steps over our old dog. God Bless his soul.
