We figured we would have *at least* a few month wait, but I think we have found the perfect puppy for us.

She is show quality, from great lines.

She's black with white markings. (I was kinda hoping for a different color, but after seeing her, I can't resist)

I am thrilled.. I'm waiting to hear back from the breeder on some more details, and then we will finalize everything.

The have mysterious powers over us;) The just offer us so much love....

They are truly a blessing to our homes:)

I am so happy for you Jodi, I can hardly wait to hear about it, hope it all works out for you! Waiting to hear, don't keep us waiting to long....

Jodi. I am so excited for you. Best of luck. You amaze me with that full house.
Sadly, we don't know what to do with an empty house (those REALLLLLLY rare times all or most of our kids are gone)

It looks like we may not be going this route.. someone told us this wasn't the best way.

I wish there was an acceptable breeders and good lines book for dummies somewhere I could buy. lol

I found a breeder I thought I might want to work with in NY (I *think*) that had some great lines in his dogs.. but I can not find where I put his number for the life of me, and I can't remember his kennel name. That is always my luck.

We found 2 great dogs, but since I'm still not that familiar with the breed.. I think I'm going to hang back and hope someone takes mercy on me, and helps guide me on what/who to buy. lol

Awwwww..... so it's not going to pan out this time, Jodi? That's too bad! Mind you, it sounds like it might be best in this case since you aren't too sure about the pup's lines. If you are looking for show quality, then you really do have to be on your toes.

Debbie's right... the Multiple Havanese Syndrome, known as MHS, is quite contagious and as far as I know there are no vaccines developed for it yet. Not that we'd want one anyway! Maybe that's why there isn't any... all the fund-raising in the world wouldn't collect enough money to research a way NOT to want more Hav's! Am I right?

Of course I am. :D

That is very smart of you Jodi. This is a time you can ask questions, research, study dogs you see at shows, meet lot's of breeders, etc. If you want a show dog, TAKE YOUR TIME!!! Find a breeder you TRUST, LIKE, RESPECT, AND CAN SUPPORT THEIR BREEDING PRACTICES.

Waiting until you are more settled is smart too. You will find the right show potential puppy and know that it is right for you.

I agree with Kathy! Very smart. Now you can look for that perfect dog. We need to make a PDF of important questions people can download and ask potential breeders when looking. That way they dont forget when seeing those cute faces.

Great idea, Melissa! If you like, I can email you the info I have accumulated as well as weblinks..... mind you, many of them I've already posted in the 'breeders' thread.

I like the idea of a PDF file to print out!
