Lily

This is our Lily. She is now 8 months. She has been a real wild child. We are new to Havanese. We had a very laid back female schnauzer forever. I got Lily because I fell in love with a very sweet male havanese I saw out shopping over a month or so. I missed our girl so much, and this little male seemed so sweet, affectionate, and friendly. I had done no real research I just went with my heart.
At 68, having a new puppy after 15 years has been a roller coaster ride.
we are making it ( most days) after a trainer, two completed puppy classes ( working on our third, endless research on the breed, a million hours on potty training, and a patient husband when I鈥檓 losing my mind.
Puppies are not for the faint hearted. And all of them, regardless of breed, have their own personalities.
Our Lily has been challenging, but so smart and funny. She loves dayplay with other dogs, enjoys being petted and complimented when we go shopping, and loves our yard. She has chased squirrels through the woods, followed a bird dog on an adventure through the woods, run down a quiet road to find me, and shredded all the pine cones she encounters. She is never, ever boring!

Welcome to you and Lily! She sure is a cutie with those eyebrows! Have fun with that little one! 馃榿
Thank you!
Thank you all. ( we really hope she will calm down a little!) I have been following everyone鈥檚 advice here for months and asking for help with the tough things. I continue to learn so much from you all. ( we have just hit the blowing coat stage, so I鈥檓 really listening to that at the moment.) Thanks again for your kind words! We weren鈥檛 sure we were going to survive her puppy stage, but it is getting better!

Hi,
Lily is adorable. I鈥檓 going through the same with my Millie, she is 7 months. I hope I survive puppyhood. Her new thing is refusing to do her business in pads she wants to go outside, I don鈥檛 mind that, but on weekends I will like to sleep a little late and she is up by 5:00 am.
Yikes! A little early! Maybe she will sleep in soon!
Lily looks like a plush toy, how beautiful is she!

Hope you enjoy this site as much as I have. Wonderful, caring Havanese lovers willing to share their insight.
I really have!
Glad it's getting better, you will survive I promise. Lily is adorable! :)
Thank you!

We are also seniors with our first puppy in many years so I understand the challenges you have been facing. Our Minnie turned 2 in February and life has become easier but we cherish those first months when she was a tiny pup. She is sure of herself now and sometimes bossy but always loving.
I wonder if the females are more assertive? And the puppy stage has cute moments. Lily was trying to figure out lightening bugs the other evening. She was so puzzled when they would light up suddenly.
