We've never had, nor seen one like this. This is from Ember's first litter. Ember is a Really dark Red like an Irish Setter.

This is probably some shade of Red???

We have no Chocolate genes in our lines.

Since I never remember the litter names long enough anyway, I call puppies by their color when talking about individuals to Pam, like the Silver Sable girl, or the solid red boy. She really just gives them puppy names so people she's talking to about them can know which one she's talking about. I've been calling these variations of "mink" when I'm talking to Pam about them, like "the solid mink girl". The "light mink boy" (more white parti than the other one), and the "dark mink boy".

This seems the strangest thing to me, but as we get close to the time for placing these puppies, nobody especially wants one of these three. No one has met any of the puppies yet who is getting one out of the current litters. Everyone usually always has a list of favorites to chose from, before we even get into temperaments, but these aren't on anyone's list. Some even specifically don't want one of these.

From ShamaPapa:

Wow, are people really stuck on the color that much? That is just so sad. People need to be educated that it is far more important to get a personality/lifestyle match than a color match.

Wow, Tom, that makes my heart hurt! I think those three have about the prettiest coats I've seen! If I lived close I think I'd have my name of your list and at least be visiting. I lost my sweet Tucker 2.5 years ago and still cry for him. I feel that at 66 now I am too old to be getting a puppy, and the struggles with Tucker's IBD all his life and then his loss has made me afraid to even try another pet, though I'm very lonely. But--if I lived close that might all fly out the window. 🤔

Anyway, I think those three pups with the unusual coats are stunning! And I know that your methods of socializing and potty training are priceless!

We lost Rex a little over a year ago. We are both 66 and added Issac and Pepper to our family. It is tiring sometimes but also brings so much joy to our home.

I was wondering when you would be ready for another one… You are NOT too old!!! I am older than you are! ❤ (And NC is only a plane ride away! 😉… not that I’m an enabler or anything!)

I guess I might actually be 73 years old if I stop starting puppies. I really won't be 73 until next month, and Pam 69.

Looks like it's going to be Havana Brown. No sign of any color changing at the roots, and they're keeping the highlights. I still think it looks like dark Mink fur.

Would love to see pics as continue to grow! Can you have parti Havana brown, or only solid?

The parti (spotting) gene can be with any solid color. The majority of Havanese have at least one copy. (which is why it's rare to see Havanese that are TRULY "solid"... They usually have white toes, chins, etc.) Havanese like Ducky, with a lot of white, and who produce a lot of white, have two copies. I don't think we have any idea what the gene is for Havana Brown. Wish we did... It's rare!

The solid girl found a home today. From a phone call this morning, she was on her way home before 5 today. I think she was one of the most gorgeous puppies ever. Just stunning with the Sun shining on her fur. Funny she was the last to find a home, but the first to head home.

We just had a great update come in about Scarlett Louis. It must have been after 9 when they got back home with her last night.

She is already much loved by the family, including their adult small dog, and said that she has a "wonderful disposition". They sent a couple of nice pictures, but I don't post someone else's pictures.
