Brook is being spayed tomorrow. She will stay overnight - which is fine, I know my vet well, and it is a 24-hour facility. Has anyone ever given the onesie to the vet for the puppy to wear right away instead of waiting till home?

My other question is can the puppy bite through the material? Brook is a wild child.......lol?

I never left mine at the vets so dunno. I wouldn't think to leave it with the vet since she could get it wrangled around somehow. They will most likely use a cone on her.

I never heard how her leg was doing. Did I miss your postings? I remember something was wrong after the cast was removed but did she need surgery again or physical therapy? How is she doing now?

For those of you who don't know, we rescued Brook at about 7 weeks old. She was found wandering the streets of Brooklyn and was placed in the New York City pound. She had a broken leg and it was set with a very big metal cast. Our vet put on another cast after that one. Brook's leg has healed without a problem. People who meet her for the first time now can't tell which leg it was. It's amazing since the doctors thought amputation might be necessary. The physical therapist gave us a bunch of exercises to do at home, but really Brook is just such a toughie that she just used it more and more everyday. We still have issues with her aggressiveness and even the dog trainer finds her a challenge, but we find each day a little better. She and Milo can actually spend quality time together; we have to keep an eye on Brook, but she's improving. Tomorrow is spay day - another landmark in her development. Wish us luck!

I am so happy with this update on Brook. I must have missed the post on how the therapy or resetting of the leg turned out. I’m sorry about the aggressive issues. This can be so difficult to correct as I’ve posted in my thread on Smarty’s Journey. My vet would not use the onesie as he would want to see the stitches when she is checked after her spay. You could take them and ask.

I'm glad to hear she is doing well now! I've been wondering for awhile how she was doing. Did your vet have to re-set the leg?? I can't remember the problem just that your vet said they did something wrong? It sounds like she is a very tough little gal! I bet she comes through the spay surgery just fine.

Great that her leg healed so well!

None of mine chewed through the onesie but they can lick through it in an attempt to get to the stitches. You might try an inflatable collar, that worked so much better for us than a cone. Hope all goes well!!!
