Mia does the Squat-Raise. My yorkie Bear does the Elevate, unless he has to go really bad and there is nothing around to elevate on. Nine times out of ten, he will find SOMETHING, even if it is a slightly taller blade of grass! Bear is a big time marker…how such a little dog has an endless amount of marking material I don’t know.

Vinny “leans” in his indoor potty, raises his leg when marking. During the long California rains we did not go out for walks very often (Vinny hates the rain), and he started marking in the house! That little bastard. Once the rains stopped and our daily walks resumed, the indoor marking completely stopped. He must have been frustrated or angry. Time for doggy therapy?
Perhaps Vinny needs indoor marking training! Like indoor potty, the dog would be trained to mark in a designated marking area! If you try it, please be sure to let us know how this goes. I am envisioning a fake fire hydrant set up somewhere in the house.
