From ShamaPapa:

Ruffin looks very dapper in his sweater. And Her Royal Highness is with you Ruffin. "Sweaters! We don't need no stinkin' sweaters!"

However, as Minnesotans, we have a quibble. 25 degrees is not Arctic. That is "shorts" weather (especially if there is sunshine and a light wind). Friday in Southern Minnesota it was - 14 degrees (yep, below zero). At the Northern border with Canada it was -44 degrees (and those are not windchill temps, those are air temps). And even that is just cold and not Arctic.

Shama says Ruffin should come visit her in January to play in the snow in the backyard to see what it is like. Unfortunately though, we would only be able to play for 5 minutes at a time as Mama and Papa wouldn't want us to get bitten by the frost.:) But you can run a whole lot of zoomies on my snow track in five minutes!

we had a winter coat failure this morning. It was -13F so I dug out one of Jack's old coats for Fezzik. It fit... kinda. Just a little loose around the chest. Should work... WRONG

I guess it was a little too long on the tummy as well. His pee went straight up the jacket and completely soaked his chest. Now I have a stinky Fezzik who has to wait for warmer weather before he gets a bath. Wipes for now. I guess we need to get Fezzik his own coat, not a hand-me-down.

I have become a fan of these. I have them in different colors for all of my guys. They are inexpensive, wash easily, and because the belly band is elasticized, it fits snug but not uncomfortably against the belly to avoid that pee problem and also keep mud off their belly. The inside is lined with slick material, so it discourages matting.

Perry gets cold as soon as it drops below 40F :) so he is in a fleece 24/7 all winter - inside and outside...

and even with the fleece he starts shivering the minute he's outside when it's East Coast frigid - for example, yesterday morning (low 20Fs) I was holding him because my sister was dropping off cousin Zadie (standard poodle) who we were babysitting for the day and we stepped out on the porch and Perry started shivering immediately.

So, in addition to his fleece, he has a coat to wear on very cold days for walks.

yeah, I double up his clothing too. A sweatshirt, fleece or sweater inside and a warm coat over when we go out.

I’m going to check those out! We have very cold temps at times, but the weather changes here in Alberta on a dime… you have to be ready for anything!
