It's a long story and I'll leave that to Jan. Someone call her and tell her she has to come on here and tell it. I can maybe help with some of the details.

To make a long story short: He's in his forever home but it's a different one than he flew this way to get to. It's the home next door. One who already owns two of our dogs. Rumba will no doubt make the 2 hour trip to our house now and then to get groomed and babysat.

In the process, another Havanese has found a home in the one that Rumba was headed to.

Stay tuned.

Ok I emailed Jan about this last night.
I saw Jan in the hallway when she had just given Rumba to the neighbors. Are they the ones who kept him?
I gave them very important directions on what he needs to be happy.
I was about to cry, so I had to leave.

Jan said when they left everybody was crying. I hope he went to the best home, sometimes things happen for a reason.
I got to spend a day with him at Nationals and Susan and I took him to the park. He was the same happy go lucky puppy.

Good luck Rumba! Im glad he will have two other Havs to play with.

Well, looks like I was wrong. The forever home only lasted a few days. Margie felt too guilty to not let Stephanie get him as was originally planned. This is actually a Havanese neighborhood as several of the next door neighbors have one or more Havanese each. They take care of each others' dogs when someone goes away. Margie and Emmit picked Rumba up at the National and kept him for a few days until Stephanie came back. I knew that Margie would want to keep him.

Anyway, don't worry. He will be well loved, pampered, and taken care of. They have plenty of room to run and play and are very safe in the gated community.

Rumba's big day!!!

Breeding Havanese is not for the faint of heart. People ask if we fall in love with our pups and the answer is yes, we do. Here is the story of one such pup!
Rumba definetly tugged on the heart strings of many loving, kindhearted people. As Melissa has told you he is a very special pup. I had tried to place him as an older pup and people would ask, "What is wrong with him, why have you had him so long?". Of course I told them that he was more than perfect, which he was and that they would really love him. He stayed with Melissa for awhile and I think she ran into the same thing. Even Joan tried to help and Rumba was not to find a home just then. So Rumba came back to us and it was very hard to let this loving boy go.
Pam had a person that owned a pup from her, and the neighbors had two pups from her. They also had neighbors that had two pups(Havanese) from another breeder. Well, the middle person wanted another to keep her Havanese company. That was going to be Rumba. Just think, six Havanese as play buddies. Great. Well, Rumba flew across country with me, and many of you were fortunat enough to meet him. I do not say that as the breeder, I say that on Rumba's own merit. He is a lover and gets along in any situation. Plus he's the cat's meow<g>. So, the neighbor came to pick up the pup for her friend. After all, what are friends for?
She came and got him and that was that!
Oh no, Mr. Bill!!!! She and her husband fell IN LOVE with this pup! She could not, would not give this pup up....I am not kidding. She will do anything for this pup. SHe called me and wanted me to find another, older, perfect, potty trained pup for her friend.
Well I told her she had to deal with her friend. It was her pup and she would have to buy it from her if she wanted him. I mean tears were shed, by everyone. I got phone calls from all parties. When the neighbor came home she was met by all neighbors in her driveway, pleading the case of the nice lady that picked up Rumba. SO, my puppy buyer said OK that the neighbor could keep HER pup. OMG, I had tearing people on the phone ALL day. Well, I told my puppy buyer that I would find her something. I had connections, I would not leave her alone. I told her to chill for a few days and she was sooooo sad.
You see, as breeders we have bad days. We have pups left, and we think we will never sell them. Too many backyard breeders, too many Havanese. Too old puppies, etc. That was not my problem today. My problem was I had too many people to love Rumba. This is not a sad story for Rumba, as I would love to have people cry for me.( they cry because of me at times<g>)
I got a call this morning. THe neighbor who came to pick Rumba up went to the neighbors house and gave my puppy buyer Rumba. SHe could not hurt her friend. My puppy buyer called me and said she got Rumba and would never let him go. SHe had already sat on the sofa with him for hours. I told her he needed to come up for air every now and again. Suffocation by hugging was just not allowed.
Oh, and a good thing. Rumba has Angels on either side of him.
I will get pictures. Sweet Dreams Rumba Bumba, we miss you....
Hugs,
J

Ok....Crying again......

Well I hope he is doing well. I understand the neighbors situation and that was nice of them to be the big people and take him over.
Hopefully they can still be involved with him. Who would have thought, the "older" puppy is now being fought over.

I love that little guy...

Up date on Yoda he is doing so much better he has now learned how to fetch yea.I put in all new sod in our back yard for Yoda and he knows that is where he suppost to go potty at now . He is learning to walk on the leash "next" to me instead of infront of me.I am teaching him to do jumps which is only at his chest level for her wont hurt him self.Or he will just crawl under it which is funny to watch. He likes to hop when he go after things and I have figured out that he dont mind crates as long as the door is open LOL I think from being shipped to me in a "cat" carrier it made him affraid of them. So I have a 200 series for him I feed him in his crate and I keep toys and a nice furry bed in there when he is not eating I guess i will work slowly on getting him use to a crate. This weekend is a rally trial I will be going to to watch . Then next month Delmar they are having a show too so I will go there to watch .I took Yoda to his first pro grooming what a disappoint that was but it was pet smart LOL so how pro is that.I do a better job than they do and his coat is alot more softer when I do it and no matts .I show them one matt he had that I want it brushed out and it was still there. So I got it out.Chaulk it up to one lesson learn. So that is what Yoda is doing .The one prob I do have with yoda he dont come when I call him, some time I think he is hard of hearing or is it being stubern .Is there a way to check to see if your dog hears well?
