In theory, I know how to do it, but in practice it's not easy for me! He's wiggly too. He knows a chin rest on my hand but I need to change the target to a cushion or something... even then hed probably struggle to stay still!

Also probably going to invest in one of those no spill water dishes to help his beard stay cleaner.

Once my sisters saw Issac with a topknot I got a “oh! He does have eyes!

You could also train him to use a water bottle. Perry used to drink water too fast and then go racing around the house and would end up throwing up almost every time, so we switched to a water bottle which he now uses all the time - I keep it clipped to his crate with his crate door open when he's out of it and then he has access to it when he's inside too. When we were living in a different house and his crate was in the bedroom, I had a 2nd bottle in the living room for him. It has the added advantage of the water not getting dirty from their beard

He will drink out of a dish when necessary as well.

Even though Perry is in a puppy cut by the time we're getting close to his next appointment you can't really see his eyes. My sister told our groomer that she should shave his bangs

I find that Perry uses it more when we have a bottle than he drinks out of a bowl I was worried Perry wasn't getting enough because he didn't seem to drink much so I started wetting his kibble (his Stella and chewy freeze dried already was getting moistened) but I think he drinks what he needs and does seem to pee often enough so I stopped worrying

Most Havanese show people use bottles at the shows, even if they use dishes at home, because it keeps the dogs’ beards dry for the ring.

Good to know these pups do well with just a water bottle! Enzo figured his out right away. I did not have to teach him how to use it. He was interested in it when I introduced it, though I had planned to have to spread some sort of food on it to get him interested... He drinks out of it when he's crated for now but since it seems fine, I will probably get another one for the house

I do worry about Issac doing that so I tend not to put his hair up unless we are out and about together. If he is spending time on his own in his puppy pen i leave his hair down.

I love the shape of hav's eyes so much! And of course the color. Dark brown eyes are my favorite on dogs.

Thankfully Enzo is a good boy about his topknot. He does not mess with it (besides the initial 30 seconds of having it on, sometimes he rolls around on the floor but he just likes to do that) BUT he does love to play with hair ties. It's a no-no here because of the risk of swallowing, but he almost never swallows non-food items. In any case, if he is crated or in his playpen without supervision I will take his hair tie out just in case. I also find that 3 twists of the terry cloth goodie hair-ties are good at staying in, but will start to slip by the end of the day.

You definitely have to keep an eye on them as little puppies. after a while, though, they learn how much more comfortable they are with the hair out of their eyes, and most become very cooperative about getting their hair put up. I have more trouble with the puppies taking the ponies out of OTHER dogs' hair. But that is a "multiple dog household problem"

That's why I ended up putting Panda's hair in bangs after her puppies. They (and ESPECIALLY Ducky, had made SUCH a mess of her head hair that it was just awful) I knew I was't going to be showing her in conformation anymore, so...
