My 8 month old havanese gores in the car but in a crate fastened to a seatbelt in the rear seat. When I get her out I hold he under her front legs and stomach and put her on the ground. The weird thing is as I lift her she puts her back legs out straight behind her. Reminds me of when a cat falls from a high place. Is it normal?

I have no idea . Sometimes mine lift there front legs up more before I put them down.

Jack doesn't enjoy being picked up and carried around. He never has. He gets very tense when you pick him up.

Most likely it's just something she did once for some odd reason, and made it a habit. These dogs are very much creatures of habit. If they do something twice it becomes a habit.

Try picking her up with one hand under her rib cage, and she will probably stop doing it.

After I get Buffy out of her car seat she always stretches her back and her rear legs. Perhaps your puppy needs to stretch out after the ride in her crate.
