Hello,
We're currently looking for a havanese to join our family. We have three school-aged children but no other dogs right now. We have done tons of research on this breed and have been looking for a puppy and speaking with a few breeders.

We have had a breeder offer us the possibility of a 6 month old puppy she kept for evaluation and has now decided to make available as a pet. know the 6-month old has been socialized and is crate trained and house trained, which is a big plus!

Can anyone give an opinion on the pros and cons of getting a younger vs. an older puppy? We We're wondering mostly about a somewhat older dog adjusting to our family.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum! I hope you get lots of input on this question, but an older puppy from a reputable breeder is usually a big bonus!
More socialization from the mom & litter mates, housetraining, etc.
Havanese are great at any age!

I agree with Dawna,
The good thing about Havs is they adapt so easily. They will bond with new people at any age. They are just so loving and want to make you happy.

Havanese are very adaptable! A well-socialized older puppy is an excellent choice if you want to avoid some of the challenges a baby puppy presents.
